Competition Timeline

  • February 12: Registration opens
  • March 8 at 11:59 pm ET: Registration closes
  • March 22 at 11:59 pm ET: Deadline for Round 1 submissions
  • April 2: Top 3 teams for the undergraduate and graduate tracks are announced
  • April 12 at 10:00 am ET: Final round and networking event in Stayer Center

How It Works

  1. Registration opens on February 12, 2024. Undergraduate students register for the undergraduate track and graduate students for the graduate track.
  2. Students form teams of two (2) to four (4) students and register by March 8, 2024. The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Notre Dame. One student is required to be a student in the Mendoza College of Business.
  3. Registered teams are granted access to case materials and instructions immediately upon registration.
  4. Registered teams have access to asynchronous, online resources via the competition website to prepare for the competition. In-person workshops, faculty coaching, and office hours with sponsors may be announced.
  5. The deadline for final deliverables in Round 1 is March 22, 2024. Each submission will be reviewed by a committee of faculty, staff, and alumni of the University of Notre Dame.
  6. The top three teams from the undergraduate track and the top three teams from the graduate track will be announced on April 2, 2024. These teams will advance to the final round and receive instructions on their next deliverable.
  7. At the final round/closing ceremony, the top three teams from the undergraduate track and the top three teams from the graduate track will make presentations. Presentations will be reviewed by a panel of judges consisting of competition sponsors and Notre Dame leadership. Prizes will be announced. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to network with the Notre Dame community and competition sponsors over lunch.

Official Rules

Round 1

  • Permissible team sizes are 2, 3, or 4 students.
  • All teams must be registered by 11:59 pm on March 8, 2024.
  • The final deliverable is a 10-12 page slide deck and 3-minute video pitch.
  • Final deliverables must be submitted by 11:59 pm on March 22, 2024.
  • Each submission will be double-blind reviewed by a committee of faculty, staff, and alumni of the University of Notre Dame (the reviewers will not know the identity of the submitting author(s), and vice versa). The committee will score submissions using a detailed rubric.
  • Changes to team composition since registration are not permitted.

Final Round / Closing Ceremony

  • Only the top three teams from the undergraduate track and the top three teams from the graduate track will participate in this round.
  • The top teams will make oral presentations of their slide deck from Round 1.
  • Oral presentations should be 8 minutes long and then followed by 4 minutes for questions from judges and the audience. All team members must participate in the presentation and/or Q&A that follows.
  • Live presentations from the top three teams will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of corporate partners and leadership at the University of Notre Dame.
  • Business formal attire is expected.
  • Changes to team composition since registration are not permitted.

Judging and Prizes

Round 1

  • Each written submission will be double-blind reviewed by a committee of faculty, staff and alumni of the University of Notre Dame (the reviewers will not know the identity of the submitting author(s), and vice versa). The committee will score submissions using a detailed rubric.

Final Round

  • Live presentations from the top three teams will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of corporate partners and leadership at the University of Notre Dame.

Cash Prizes

GRADUATE TRACK


  • 1st place team: $10,000
  • 2nd place team: $5,000
  • 3rd place team: $2,500

UNDERGRADUATE TRACK


  • 1st place team: $10,000
  • 2nd place team: $5,000
  • 3rd place team: $2,500

Resources

These resources provide just a small sampling of the research and other information that can inform one’s understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion. Case competition participants are encouraged to seek data and resources from scholarly research and from corporate practice to inform their analysis of the case. One of the criteria for judging the case responses is incorporating relevant research and analysis.
